Fragrant Beads Made of 100% Rose Petals
The rose petal beads first appeared in history between 1250-1300 AD.
Monks, nuns and noblewoman gathered rose petals from castle gardens and monasteries, where they originated the process of making the beads using cast iron pots and gently simmering nothing but rose petals and water.
The rose petal rosaries were given official sanction by the pope in 1520.
Today I use the same process to create these special fragrant beads.
My Story
I live on beautiful Salt Spring Island located in the Salish Sea in British Columbia.
We have a great Saturday market filled with organic farmers fresh produce and many highly creative crafts people selling their wares. You can find me there throughout the warm season selling rose petal bead rosaries, malas, necklaces, bracelets and earrings.
I enjoy growing a large garden and am deeply drawn to nature and spirituality.
Each bead is made from nothing but rose petals and water and is simmered in a cast iron pot which creates a rose "clay" and then I hand roll each bead one at a time. The finished beads are hard and durable as well as very smooth and spherical and do not lose their natural fragrance over time, making them treasured keepsakes as well as true heirlooms that can be handed down generation to generation.
